A Room with a View at the Salmon House

Ready for a night off with the hubby? Need to have a BIG distraction to forget about that day that you just had with your toddler? Pull out that little black dress, try on those heals and let down your hair. You and your husband will be taking in a fantastic view as you enjoy an evening out. The Salmon House is a Vancouver classic that most men keep as wild card in their back pocket for those big nights! Whether it is a back to work dinner, a birthday that needs a little special treatment or the announcement of a new baby. What ever the reason, call ahead, book a table at the window and enjoy.

Just this last week we joined a fantastic dinner on the high hilltops of West Vancouver. We were fortunate to get a table for 4 by the window and enjoyed a breathtaking view and dinner to match. After 3 Courses and 2 1/2 hours of chatting, it will be a long time till I forget this classic dinner celebratory spot!

The decor of the restaurant is truly West Coast with Aboriginal inspired artwork, woodcarvings and decorative motife everywhere. This is done in a tasteful way and one that leads to conversation as you enjoy dinner.

Keep in mind that I was pregnant for this dinner and my usual would include mussels, oysters and a selection of wines. This is just a sampling of my hubby and my dinner. Although the dessert is one that has stayed in my mind for some time now! The BC wine lover will be thrilled to see this wine list and if you are partial to seafood and fish, this is by far the place to try. The restaurant chain also owns Horizons which offers a very different menu.

Insider Tips:

If you are on a tighter budget and want to impress an out of town guest, there is also a cocktail lounge. This room shares the same great view, a warm fireplace, and full menu that you can select a fantastic dessert and flavored coffee to finish up the evening.
Book a table by the window for sunset. This may be early in the winter but is well worth it for the breathtaking view as the barges drop anchor.
